Walk in Sanya City, China
Sanya City (三亚市) is the southernmost city on Hainan Island in Hainan Province, South China. Its history dates to the Qin Dynasty (221–206 BCE).
Sanya is a popular tourist destination in China where turquoise waters, golden beaches, and year-round sunshine draw travelers in search of warmth, relaxation, and coastal adventure.
Beyond the luxury resorts and swaying coconut trees, Sanya offers a laid-back, soulful experience shaped by nature, indigenous culture, and a rhythm that slows everything down.
One of the most vibrant places to start is Dadonghai (大东海), a crescent-shaped bay just minutes from the city center.
It’s the heart of Sanya’s beach culture, the perfect place for a morning swim, afternoon sunbathing, or grabbing fresh fruit juice from a seaside stall.
As the sun sets, locals and visitors alike gather along the shore to play music, dance, and enjoy grilled seafood in a warm ocean breeze.
Offshore, Wuzhizhou Island (蜈支洲岛) is known for its clear waters and coral reefs, making it a top destination for snorkeling, scuba diving, and jet skiing.
The views from the island are perfect: white sand, swaying trees, and vibrant marine life just below the surface.
And then, of course, there’s the food. From grilled seafood skewers at night markets to tropical fruits like mango, passionfruit, and jackfruit, Sanya’s cuisine is bright, fresh, and full of flavor.
Try coconut chicken hotpot, Hainanese rice noodles, or a local breakfast of sticky rice and tofu pudding.
As night falls, the city comes alive in a different way with beach bars, night markets, and oceanfront walks under palm-lined skies. However, even amid the lights and music, Sanya keeps its laid-back pace.
It’s a place to unwind, recharge, and rediscover the simple joy of being close to the sea.
