Walk in Beiji and Beihong Villages – Mohe City, China
Mohe City (漠河市) is a county-level city in Daxing’anling Prefecture, Heilongjiang province. It is the northernmost city in China, is a captivating destination that combines stunning natural beauty, extreme weather, and rich cultural experiences.
One of the most famous attractions in Mohe is Beiji Village (北极村). It was formerly known as Mohe Village was founded in 1860.
Beiji Village is located 77 kilometers north of Mohe City, and is across the Amur River from the Russian village of Ignashino (Игнашино).
The village is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction and the best northern lights viewing point in China. In winter, the village is a snow-covered wonderland under a star-filled sky, while summer offers the rare experience of the “midnight sun,” with extended daylight hours perfect for exploration.
Don’t miss the Beiji Stone, marking the northernmost point of China—a popular photo spot and a symbolic landmark.
Equally charming is Beihong Village (北红村), another remote settlement that rivals Beiji Village in natural beauty and tranquility.
Known as one of the least commercialized villages in the area, Beihong Village offers visitors a glimpse of authentic northern life.
