Enigmatic Objects – Mutianyu Great Wall, Beijing
Mutianyu Great Wall (慕田峪长城) is one of the famous sections of the Great Wall of China, located in Huairou District of Beijing 70 kilometers (43 mi) northeast of the center of the city.
It is an important part of the Beijing section of the Ming Great Wall, built by the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), and also a tourist attraction in Beijing.
The Mutianyu Great Wall was built under the leadership of the great warlord Xu Da under Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, on the ruins of the Great Wall of Northern Qi.
It is one of the sixteen scenic spots and also a tourist attraction in Beijing.
The Mutianyu Great Wall has a profound historical value and a high cultural value.
In 1987, it was inscribed on the list of “World Cultural Heritage” by UNESCO.
In 2011, it was rated as an AAAAA tourist scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.
